Show HN: We built open OpenRouter that turns usage into a better model
Points and comments are a snapshot, not live.
Experiential is an open-source model gateway and router for agent workflows.
Experiential provides an OpenAI-compatible API that unifies hosted, BYOK, and local models. It controls user/agent model access, spend, and use cases. The gateway can optimize model selection from production traffic and supports fine-tuning. It adds under 1ms latency for BYOK requests. It offers both a local gateway and a hosted platform. Anonymous aggregate telemetry is on by default but can be disabled.
What commenters are saying
Commenters compared it to LiteLLM, with routing and model optimization from traffic cited as the main differentiator. A key concern was caching: switching models frequently could degrade performance and increase costs. The creators responded that they rarely switch, often routing to a single optimal model. The thread also questioned the business model and the on-by-default telemetry, which the creators defended as off by default for the open-source repo.
