Points and comments are a snapshot, not live.
Nebula releases its own open-source font, Nebula Sans, based on Source Sans.
Nebula, a premium streaming service for independent creators, introduces Nebula Sans as its new brand typeface. It is a modified version of Adobe's open-source Source Sans, designed as a drop-in replacement for the licensed Whitney SSm to reduce costs. The font features two styles in six weights, tabular figures (monospaced numerals) for stable timestamps, and stylistic alternates. It is available under the SIL Open Font License.
What commenters are saying
Many commenters appreciate the font and the reasoning behind it, especially the cost savings from replacing a licensed font. Some debate whether the subtle differences justify the effort, with a few calling it a generic PR stunt. Others defend the customization, noting it allows for brand consistency without ongoing licensing fees. One commenter highlights that Nebula also made a documentary about the font, creating additional content for the platform.
