An interactive map of 15,565 real filming locations across 166 countries, built from Wikidata.

Movie Scene Map is a free interactive map of filming locations for 9,287 films and series, 2,153 video games, 407 anime, and 365 manga. Data comes from Wikidata statements, Wikipedia articles and categories. Users can browse by country, place type, or production. The map is curated, not complete; users can add locations by editing Wikidata. The atlas is downloadable as GeoJSON or CSV under CC0, and a read-only MCP endpoint serves the data to AI assistants.

What commenters are saying

Commenters praised the smooth UI and novel concept, but noted accuracy gaps: some locations are wrong or missing, and coverage skews post-2000. Several offered specific corrections (e.g., 'Source Code' never filmed at Ottawa train station; 'Three Nuts for Cinderella' lists incorrect locations). The creator responded to most feedback, explaining reliance on Wikipedia to avoid AI scrapers, and acknowledged parsing difficulties. Some requested filters by genre or earnings, and a feature to compare location photos with film frames.
