Fourth edition of Axler's linear algebra textbook is now open access.
The fourth edition of Linear Algebra Done Right is available as a free PDF in English, Chinese, Farsi, Greek, and Portuguese under a Creative Commons BY-NC license. It contains over 250 new exercises and over 70 new examples. The book targets undergraduate math majors and graduate students for a second course, taking a determinant-free approach that focuses on linear operators on finite-dimensional vector spaces.
Print versions are sold via Amazon. The book has been adopted by 430 universities. Accompanying videos and errata are available on the author's site.

Commenters recommended several linear algebra texts for different stages. Many agreed Strang is best for a first course, especially after 3Blue1Brown's videos, while Axler is better as a second course for math majors. Some praised Axler's abstract, determinant-free approach for building deeper understanding. Others preferred Friedberg, Insel, and Spence for a mix of theory and computation, or Treil for honors-level rigor.
