Points and comments are a snapshot, not live.
Libreboot 26.10 adds full UEFI support and 233 Chromebook models.
Libreboot 26.10 "Ominous Olive" adds full UEFI support via the MrChromebox EDK2 payload, enabling Windows and modern OS boot. It imports 233 Chromebooks from MrChromebox coreboot, updates EDK2, GRUB, and coreboot, and adds several new mainboards including Dell OptiPlex 5050 SFF and ThinkPad X280. A new anti-AI policy was added. AMD Fam15h boards now use a 15h.org coreboot fork for improved memory initialization.
What commenters are saying
Commenters focused on the strong anti-AI policy. Some praised the stance as principled within free software. Others criticized the radical tone, calling it a red flag. One commenter noted Libreboot's policy is more extreme than GNU Guix's AI ban, which addresses copyright concerns. Another argued the project's radicalism is consistent with its goal of a fully libre boot chain. A few dismissed AI as theft.
