Points and comments are a snapshot, not live.
Immich v3.0.0 launches with non-destructive mobile editing, workflows preview, and integrity checks.
The v3.0.0 release includes mobile non-destructive image editing (cropping, rotating, adjusting without altering originals), a preview of automated Workflows (drag-and-drop builder with triggers, filters, actions), HLS and real-time video transcoding, an OCR option on mobile, and timeline performance improvements for browsing large libraries. Breaking changes primarily affect third-party API integrations. Update requires changing IMMICH_VERSION to v3 in .env. Release candidates were used for the first time.
What commenters are saying
Users are enthusiastic about Immich, praising its reliability and the convenience of self-hosting photos. A minority report database corruption during upgrades, leading to data loss and frustration; some have sworn off upgrades entirely. Multiple commenters recommend VPN tunnels or self-hosted S3 for encryption and availability, while others note that external library support (read-only indexing of existing folders) has been available for years.
