GrapheneOS is overhauling default apps and planning RCS support for its Messaging app.
GrapheneOS is overhauling its bundled AOSP apps. The Messaging app is being rewritten with Android Compose. Future plans include adding RCS with E2EE via MLS, replicating Google Messages' approach, and eventually adding carrier-only RCS. The Gallery app will be entirely replaced. The Keyboard may also see major changes. GrapheneOS hired new developers and plans to scale up work on both apps and the base OS, with more donations funding additional hires.
