Starting September 16, 2026, Anthropic merges Claude Cowork and chat into a single interface, removing the need to choose where a task goes. New features include Claude Docs and Claude Slides for creating documents and presentations collaboratively, plus Claude Design now works inside conversations. Users can hand off tasks like reports and slides, with Claude continuing work after they close their laptop. The merged Claude checks in by default before actions but can be set to work autonomously. Rolling out to Pro and Max plans on web, desktop, and mobile over coming weeks.
